A drug dealer has been jailed after being stopped in his vehicle and linked to a major supply of class A drugs in Worthing.
Tyreek Rodney, 25, was found to be dealing crack cocaine and heroin after police intercepted him in Grafton Road on 9 July this year.
Officers from the Tactical Firearms Unit (TFU) and Tactical Enforcement Unit acted on intelligence suggesting a firearm could be inside a vehicle. Rodney’s Vauxhall Insignia was safely stopped, but no firearm was discovered.
A subsequent search of his address uncovered 600 wraps of drugs, rocks of white powder, large sums of cash, and weapons.
Rodney was arrested and later admitted:
- Two counts of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply
- Money laundering
- Possession of cannabis
He appeared at Lewes Crown Court on 8 September, where he was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison.
Inspector Robert Hart of the TFU said:
“Our armed response officers perform a wide range of duties above and beyond responding to firearms incidents.
They stand ready to support colleagues in disrupting the supply of class A drugs which cause so much harm in our communities.
We are grateful to divisional colleagues for helping to gather the evidence which ensured Rodney had no choice but to plead guilty in court.
A potentially dangerous offender has been taken off the streets and his drugs operation has been disrupted.”
